On 30 December 2025, the Faculty of Law at Zagazig University marks the first anniversary of the passing of Eid Mohamed El‑Qassas (may Allah have mercy upon him), one of the most deeply rooted academic pillars of the Faculty and one of Egypt’s most prominent scholars in procedural jurisprudence.
Professor Dr. Eid El-Qassas was not merely an academic office holder, but the author of a comprehensive scholarly project whose influence extended through teaching, authorship, academic supervision, and institutional service for more than thirty consecutive years of devoted university work.
He was distinguished by profound and rigorous scholarship, reflected in his long-standing teaching of Civil and Commercial Procedure, Compulsory Enforcement, and Arbitration at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, at Zagazig University and beyond. His name became closely associated with the formation of successive generations of legal professionals who received a solid scientific education grounded in methodological integrity, objectivity, and the careful linkage between legal texts and judicial application.
His authoritative publications constitute foundational pillars of the Egyptian legal library, characterized by breadth, balanced analysis, and scientific precision, which rendered them essential references for researchers. Among his most notable works are Al-Wasit in the Explanation of the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law, Principles of Compulsory Enforcement, Judicial Commitment to the Principle of Adversarial Proceedings (Doctoral Dissertation), Waiver of the Right to Appeal, Allegations of Forgery before Civil Courts, Contradiction of Judgments, Arbitral Awards, Liability Arising from Compulsory Enforcement, Service of Judgment as an Exceptional Trigger for Appeal Deadlines, Toward a General Theory of Procedural Prescription, Procedural Succession in Civil and Commercial Matters, Scope of Arbitrator Recusal under Arbitration Law No. 27 of 1994, Effect of Judgments Accepting Petitions for Reconsideration, Family Courts, Arbitration in Civil and Commercial Disputes (Domestic and International), and Specialized Courts.
Professor Dr. Eid El-Qassas also held several key academic and administrative positions, including Head of the Department of Procedural Law, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research. His administrative performance was marked by a careful balance between institutional discipline and academic fairness, reinforcing trust within the work environment and consolidating traditions based on respect for rules, equal opportunity, and scholarly rigor.
Beyond his academic stature, he was widely regarded as a model of academic and human integrity. His relationships with students and colleagues were characterized by respect, humility, and fairness, and he skillfully balanced scientific authority with humane compassion—values that represent the true essence of the university professor.
He also contributed to the establishment of specialized diplomas, including the Judicial Studies Diploma and the Arbitration Diploma at the Faculty of Law, Zagazig University, and supervised and examined numerous master’s and doctoral theses across several Egyptian universities, leaving a lasting imprint on contemporary procedural legal scholarship in Egypt.
As the Faculty of Law at Zagazig University recalls the life and legacy of Professor Dr. Eid Mohamed El-Qassas, it does not merely commemorate an individual, but documents an authentic scientific and ethical journey—of a scholar who united knowledge with character and left an enduring impact on the institution, the discipline, and all those who had the honor of learning under his guidance.
May Allah have mercy upon Professor Dr. Eid El-Qassas, accept his knowledge and lasting contributions as ongoing charity, and grant him the highest ranks in Paradise.
