Faculty of Law Holds an Introductory Seminar Entitled “Rationalizing Water Consumption”

Under the patronage of Khaled El-Dardali, President of the University; the leadership of Helal Afifi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; and under the supervision of Shaimaa Abdel-Ghani Attallah, Acting Dean of the Faculty,

the Faculty of Law held, on 14 December 2025, an introductory seminar entitled “Rationalizing Water Consumption.” The seminar was organized within the framework of the Faculty’s commitment to enhancing community awareness of contemporary environmental issues and highlighting the legal and institutional role in protecting natural resources, particularly water as a fundamental pillar of national security and sustainable development.

The seminar addressed the importance of rationalizing water consumption and examined the impact of individual and institutional behavior on the sustainability of water resources. It also highlighted the legal and regulatory dimensions related to water management, as well as the role of legislation and public policies in confronting water-related challenges.

In her address, Professor Dr. Shaimaa Abdel-Ghani Attallah emphasized that the issue of rationalizing water consumption is no longer merely a service-related or behavioral matter, but has become a legal and strategic issue that directly affects national security and sustainable development. She explained that protecting water resources places an increased responsibility on academic institutions—particularly Faculties of Law—to reinforce legal awareness of the importance of this vital resource and to clarify the constitutional and legislative obligations imposed on both the State and individuals to preserve it and prevent its waste.

She concluded by reaffirming the Faculty’s continued support for initiatives and activities that promote environmental and legal awareness, in line with the University’s role in serving society and building individuals capable of safeguarding the nation’s resources.

The Faculty extended its appreciation to the Faculty’s Student Union for organizing the seminar.

In the same context, Mai Ezzat, Director of the Awareness Department at the Drinking Water Company, affirmed that promoting a culture of rational water consumption is not limited to technical aspects alone, but rather integrates with legal awareness and social responsibility, contributing to the sustainable use of natural resources and the protection of the rights of future generations.

The event concluded with best wishes for continued success.
