Justice is a Mission… and Knowledge is Its Path" Message from the Dean of the Faculty of Law – Zagazig University"

Dear Sons and Daughters, Esteemed Students of the Faculty of Law,

I extend to you my warmest welcome—whether you are newly admitted students beginning your academic journey with us, or returning colleagues continuing your pursuit of excellence. Studying law at Zagazig University’s Faculty of Law is not merely a path toward earning a degree; it is a noble and honorable mission aimed at instilling the foundations of justice, safeguarding rights, and protecting the state and its institutions through the rule of law. Today, you carry the trust of the future, and tomorrow you shall be the guardians of the Constitution and the laws, and defenders of truth.

Excellence in the study of law requires commitment and continuous effort. I urge you first to recognize the importance of attending lectures regularly and engaging actively, for they are the cornerstone of understanding complex legal principles and benefiting directly from the expertise of our distinguished faculty members. Beyond that, you must give utmost importance to continuous, in-depth legal reading—whether through foundational textbooks and references or through the latest research, studies, and legislative developments. Law is a living and ever-evolving discipline, and you can only keep pace with its transformations through extensive and consistent reading. I also encourage you to make good use of the faculty libraries, which hold a wealth of legal knowledge that will deepen your understanding and broaden your perspectives.

The formation of a true legal practitioner cannot be complete without practical and applied training. Therefore, I invite you, bearers of the banner of law, to participate actively in activities designed to refine your practical skills—foremost among them the training opportunities offered by the Center for International Legal and Economic Studies affiliated with the Faculty, which provides you with invaluable chances to bridge theory and practice. Likewise, participation in moot court activities allows you to embody the roles of lawyers and judges, training you in the art of advocacy and the drafting of legal pleadings. Equally important is engagement in the Legal Clinic, which offers you a platform to serve your community and provide legal advice—thereby instilling in you a deep sense of social responsibility.

Participation in various student activities forms an integral part of shaping both your legal and social personality, as it develops leadership, teamwork, and constructive legal debate. I also encourage you to actively engage with the Faculty’s online platform, which serves as a bridge for intellectual exchange, access to updates, and distance learning—an essential tool in the era of digital transformation.

Dear future defenders of justice, today you take your first steps on a journey filled with purpose, service, and influence. Always remember to be seekers of knowledge first, and justice second. Uphold the honor of the profession, adhere to principles and ethics, and work diligently and sincerely—during your studies, throughout your professional careers after graduation, and during postgraduate stages, including diplomas, master’s, and doctoral studies. Be a support and strength to your homeland, making the law its shield and justice its safeguard.

With my heartfelt wishes for your continued success and excellence,

Prof. Shaimaa Abdel-Ghani Mohamed Attallah
Professor of Criminal Law
Acting Dean, Faculty of Law – Zagazig University
