On 20 December, the ninth anniversary of the passing of Kamal Mohamed Abu Sarea, Professor of Commercial, Maritime, and Air Law, and former Dean of the Faculty of Law at Zagazig University, is commemorated. He remains one of the most distinguished academic figures whose name has long been associated with knowledge, sound leadership, and noble character.
The late professor stood as a model of the self-made scholar who firmly believed that knowledge is inseparable from ethics, and that university leadership is a responsibility before it is a position. This belief was clearly reflected throughout his academic and administrative career, during which he served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at Zagazig University for more than twelve years, earning him the distinction of being the longest-serving dean among faculties of law in Egypt during his era.
He was not merely a professor within lecture halls, but a compassionate mentor and a sincere advisor to his students at both the Faculties of Law and Commerce. He remained close to them, honest in intention, devoted to his duties, and generous with his time, effort, and guidance.
Through his conduct and teachings, he instilled in successive generations the values that knowledge is a mission rather than prestige, that work is diligence rather than display, and that leadership is a responsibility rather than an honor.
May Allah have mercy upon Professor Dr. Kamal Mohamed Abu Sarea, accept his scholarly contributions and lasting impact as good deeds, reward him abundantly for his service to his students and colleagues, and grant him the highest ranks in Paradise.
His memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who knew him and had the honor of learning under his guidance.
