Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Khaled El-Darrandali, President of Zagazig University, and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Hilal Afifi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shaimaa Abdelghany Attallah, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamdy Behensi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and organized by the Student Union of the Faculty of Law – Zagazig University,

And as part of the Faculty’s efforts to promote national values and strengthen students’ sense of belonging, an awareness seminar titled “Citizenship and Belonging” was held today, within the activities of the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s “Our Values” initiative.

The seminar was honored by the presence of Ms. Alaa Adel, representative of the Social Solidarity Center at Zagazig University, who participated in the discussions and highlighted the importance of promoting citizenship values and the role of youth in nation-building.

The seminar explored the concept of citizenship as an integrated behavior that reflects true belonging to the homeland, respect for the rule of law, and positive participation in community service. It also emphasized that belonging is not merely a feeling but a practical commitment shown through protecting national resources and contributing to the country’s progress.

Prof. Dr. Shaimaa Abdelghany Attallah affirmed that strengthening citizenship values is an essential part of the Faculty’s mission, not just an awareness activity. She stressed that the role of the Faculty goes beyond teaching law to shaping student awareness and reinforcing their genuine connection to their country. She noted that the current phase requires conscious and responsible youth who actively participate in facing challenges and shaping the future. She also emphasized that the University will continue to be a key partner in supporting initiatives that reinforce national values and concluded by affirming the Faculty’s commitment to preparing a generation capable of contributing to the nation’s development and protecting its assets.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamdy Behensi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, added that the initiatives of the Ministry of Social Solidarity—most notably Takaful and Karama—reflect the state’s commitment to supporting the most vulnerable groups and promoting social justice. He stressed that these efforts embody the meaning of citizenship and solidarity among the people of Egypt, and further strengthen the role of youth as active partners in shaping the future. He noted that love for Egypt is demonstrated through responsibility and work—not slogans—and that the Faculty is keen on instilling these values in its students.

Students interacted actively through questions and discussions that enriched the dialogue and reflected their awareness of national issues.

At the end of the seminar, the Faculty administration expressed its gratitude to Ms. Alaa Adel for her valuable participation and to the Ministry of Social Solidarity for supporting the “Our Values” initiative, emphasizing that such events strengthen citizenship values and contribute to shaping conscious and responsible university students.
